The program closes itself

I wanted to give Emofuri a try, but it keeps closing itself every time I booted it up. I had the latest DirectX (I’ve tried this End-User thing, but it says “the latest version is already install, so no installation necessary”) and set my locale to Japanese, but no dice

UPDATE: I’ve found a post on Tumblr regarding this issue. I did as instructed and it worked!
